Understanding SRS Tax Benefits

The Supplementary Retirement Scheme (SRS) offers attractive tax relief for every dollar contributed, up to a yearly cap. By reducing your chargeable income, you can significantly lower your immediate tax bill based on Singapore's progressive tax rates.

The Sweet Spot Strategy

The most effective use of SRS is when your income crosses into a higher tax bracket. For example, if you earn $130,000, the last $10,000 of your income is taxed at 15%. By contributing $10,000 to SRS, you reduce your chargeable income to $120,000, effectively saving $1,500 instantly. This guarantees a "15% return" on your money before you even invest it.
